Genus 2 CMC surface with six lobes

Lynn Heller, Sebastian Heller, Nick Schmitt

Seven stereographic projections of a genus two constant mean curvature (CMC) surface in the three-sphere with six lobes. The surface was constructed by the loop group Weierstrass representation of CMC surfaces, with accessory parameters determined by numerical flow.

The top image is a cutaway insideout view with the handles ensconced inside one of the lobes. The middle view in the last row can be seen as a four lobe CMC Delaunay torus with a two-lobed handle glued in. The lines on the surface are curvature lines, meeting at four umbilics. The black arcs are the six coordinate great circles of the three-sphere.
