Last year Bray, Kazaras, Khuri and Stern came up with a new elegant proof of the three dimensional positive mass theorem, based on a formula of the fourth author. Inspired by this, Miao gave new geometric formulas for the mass of an asymptotically flat manifold via coordinate cubes. In this talk we will outline the above results, with particular focus on Miao’s formulas and see a generalization of them in higher dimensions. We will also show an integral formula relating the n-dimensional mass to the mass of (n-1)-dimensional slices.
