Donnerstag, 05.11.2026: Boost Covariance of STCMC Conserved Quantities

Saradha Senthil-Velu

For asymptotically flat initial data in general relativity, center of mass and angular momentum are expected to form part of a common Lorentz-covariant structure. In this talk, I will discuss the behavior of the center of mass defined by the constant spacetime mean curvature (STCMC) foliation under asymptotic boosts. The transformation law naturally produces angular-momentum terms together with additional contributions involving the extrinsic geometry of the initial data. Under suitable convergence assumptions, these extra terms vanish and the classical ADM angular momentum is recovered. I will also describe the converse relation, in which boosting angular momentum leads back to the STCMC center-of-mass expression, and briefly explain the role played by the asymptotic geometry of the STCMC leaves.
