Donnerstag, 24.09.2026: Spinorial quasilocal mass and the cosmological constant

Dr. Virinchi Rallabhandi (University of Edinburgh)

Abstract: In this talk Dr. Virinchi Rallabhandi will discuss spinorial approaches to quasilocal mass and the effects of a cosmological constant. He will start by reviewing quasilocal masses in general relativity, with a focus on the Dougan-Mason definition. Then, he will present my generalisation of this definition to include a negative cosmological constant and explain some of its properties. Finally, Dr. Virinchi Rallabhandi will conclude with some speculation about incorporating a positive cosmological constant and the difficulties this entails.
